My Little American Princess

There's a couple things that Merce just can't live without...."big dresses", or maxi's as the rest of the world calls them, and her daddy.  We're a milfam, so red-white-blue (RWB) anything...well, almost.....will always have our attention and reminds her of her favorite man in the world. With that said, let's just get down to it.  We were one of the lucky ducks offered a spot to have a custom OOAK dress made by Lacy Gutierrez, owner of Olive Mae Clothing, and here it is. LOOK AT THIS DRESS.

Wow. Just wow.  It's amazing.  Now, while we love RWB, note that I said "well, almost" up there? I do not like cheesy RWB. The cheap looking, eye burning bright RWB makes me cringe.  I'm super picky when it comes to our RWB. It needs to demand respect, exude patriotism, and most importantly, not look like someone was sponging off our love for our country and trying to make a quick buck. I want to look at it and think,  "yep, someone loves America like we do".  I am so happy to say, this dress passed the test.

If there was a downfall to this dress, it's that it is heavy b/c of all the material. But Merce never noticed. I bet shipping was high on this one!  She is 48.5", 50# and wearing a sz 6. It is absolutely perfect. Even the length. Just off the ground, but not too short which is a problem we run into some times. She has room to grow in the bodice, and as she gets taller I'm not opposed to having a tier or two removed to solve the "maxi is now a midi" issue. I absolutely love it how it is now, but imagine it with the bottom two tiers removed as a mini or tunic when she is taller. 😲💗 Or maybe we won't destroy it and the next time customs are available from Olive Mae, we will just request this as a tunic too. 😉

Let's look at this dress some more.  here's the back. Still gorgeous.

And what's a Merce & Me post without a twirl?  Or an attempt at a twirl. Look at that hair. 😂 It was so windy.  Oklahoma is a great state, but the 25mph winds can go away anytime.

There's so much movement in this dress.  She was just walking and the dress just seemed to walk along side her.  See that face? She's in Heaven. She said she feels like an American Princess. Isn't that how all our little girls should feel?

And I'll leave you with my favorite picture. Again, her face says it all.  While this was a custom, there are some non RWB maxi's still on the Olive Mae website, and on sale!

  1. The dress commands our attention. I see "Old Glory" within the movement of the colors. Ava's tanned skin and Beautiful features enhances it's majestic appearance. Ty.
